Having been in the real estate industry for many years, I see it almost every week that hunger for the business or the transaction can take over the purpose of the process. This more importantly takes the focus of what we are really doing. We are in an industry that is purely service based. Fortunate enough to help and change the lives of many, it makes the job more rewarding than anything else.
The real estate industry is one that has its fair share of criticism and judgement however some is definitely unwarranted. In any business, there is always good and bad, however for the people working in the industry from receptionist/administration, property management, sales, manager to directors, we are all so tuned into the job we don’t reflect on the outcome we are offering to our clients.
When you understand the why you do what you do, it tends to hit home harder. Only than do you believe and achieve results that can be life changing. No only personally but for your clients. My recommendation is to always stay in tune to what you do, why you do it and NOT who you do it for.
Staying hungry, motivated and ruthless is healthy. A controlled balance between humble and hungry can be at times more important than the final outcome. Next time your wheeling and dealing, do so without expecting anything in return and the rewards will surprise you.
